Depart from the quayside and enjoy a brief orientation tour of the city center of Port Elizabeth including a stop at the Native Strangers location, before proceeding to Korsten via Livingstone Hospital to Missionvale - a very poor and undeveloped residential township. From here, continue via the Govan Mbeki Township to the middle-class areas of Kwadwesi & Kwa Magxaki.

You will then continue to the heart of the township via Veeplaas, Zwide, passing the main trading area, Njoli Square to Kwazakhele. Thereafter, drive past the hairdressers at Goniwe Hostel, on your way to Aya’s Ceramic Art Studio. Situated in the heart of New Brighton Township close to Red Location, Ayanda (Aya) Mji draws her inspiration from the African Landscape, animals, birds and even her dreams to create some of the most interesting ceramic art you will find in our beautiful country.

From here, continue to Emlotheni Memorial Park, recently built to commemorate the death of the first Umkhonto we Sizwe cadres, who were hung by the previous regime in the early ’60s. Proceed to a local school, where you will spend some time with the locals. Return to the quayside after gaining some insight into South Africa’s turbulent past.
