OVERVIEW

Float down the meandering Roseau River on a long bamboo raft that a local guide will pole down the river, which eventually empties into the sea. You won’t have to do a thing but sit back, relax and admire St. Lucia’s stunning natural beauty. As the gentle current carries you through the serene rainforest that comes right to the riverbanks, the guide will describe the flora and fauna. Birds are particularly plentiful and you may spot colorful endemic species such as the St. Lucia oriole and the St. Lucia parrot – the national bird – which typically nests in the cavities of tall trees. Butterflies are also commonly seen flitting about. Mangrove forests line much of Roseau River and provide excellent wildlife habitat and environmental benefits such as reducing erosion and filtering impurities from the water. Along the way, you will stop at a rustic Creole hut where you may sample coconut water and fresh fruit.
