St. Mark's Square & Doge's Palace

Guests who are planning to visit religious sites during free time or on tour, please dress appropriately; no bare shoulders or shorts are allowed. Backpacks and large purses will have to be checked in at security in Doge’s Palace; we recommend no large bags on this tour. The order of sights may vary. Crowds and delays may be encountered at the Doge's Palace. Guests cannot enter the Cathedral on church holidays, or in case of unexpected religious functions; however if the church permits, and time permitting, you may be allowed to enter on an individual basis. In case of particularly high tide, the main entrance to the cathedral may be blocked. Photography is not permitted inside St. Mark’s Cathedral and the Doge’s Palace. Most tours require a lot of walking and climbing of stairs over many bridges and therefore are not suggested for anyone with walking difficulties. There are approximately 500 steps to navigate, uneven and cobblestone terrain, and approximately 2 kilometers of walking on this tour.
