You’ll need a cocktail befitting your adventure, and the new Bermuda Triangle Punch is a tropical libation with a splash of history and a hint of Caribbean spice, much like the island of Bermuda itself. When the bartenders at Norwegian Cruise Line set out to create a drink representative of Bermuda, they knew it had to be fun, but with a nod to the past. The result is Bermuda Triangle Punch, a blend of three fruit juices and a healthy dose of Gosling’s Black Seal Rum. Born in 1806, Gosling’s rum is the oldest surviving business on the island of Bermuda. It also makes a great tropical punch.

The history of Bermuda dates back to 1609, when an English ship bound for the colonies of Virginia ran aground on the reefs surrounding the island. The passengers decided to stay and England laid claim to Bermuda. The whole event was the inspiration for William Shakespeare's "The Tempest." It wasn't uncommon for ships to hit the reefs surrounding Bermuda. The island is known as the "Wreck Capital of the Atlantic." There are more shipwrecks per square mile off Bermuda than anywhere else in the world. Today, that makes for fantastic diving.

The British colonists settled on Bermuda's St. George Island, where they went about building a life for themselves. They established a fort, a church and grew tobacco. Today, St. George is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the oldest continually inhabited English settlement in the Western Hemisphere. Visitors to St. George see St. Peter's Church, established by the colonists in 1612, and with an elaborate hand-carved altar, the oldest piece of its kind in Bermuda. Tombstones in the church graveyard date back 300 years. There are also three museums on St. George, and historic forts, some dating back to the early 1600s.

A Bermuda Triangle Punch hits the spot after a day out seeing the sights. The drink takes its name from the infamous Bermuda Triangle, an international mystery long associated with the island nation. Bermuda marks the northern point of a large triangle of ocean, where aircraft and ships have been known to disappear under mysterious circumstances. In the 1970s, conspiracy theorists attributed the disappearances to paranormal activity or extraterrestrials, but the myth has been mostly dispelled today.
