After tendering to St. George, you will begin a leisurely walking tour of town, which was founded in 1612 and became the island’s first capital. Along the way, you may pass the Tucker House Museum and St. Peter’s Church, the oldest continually used church in the western hemisphere. You will notice that many of the alleys, such as Needle & Thread and Barber’s, are named for former trades that flourished here. Shinbone Alley refers to the colonial soldiers that overindulged in its pubs and crawled out on their hands and knees, banging their shinbones.

A different side of Bermuda awaits you at Tobacco Bay Beach, where you will linger over lunch before heading for the shore. Now a national park, the beach was named for the wild tobacco that grew here when survivors of a shipwreck came ashore in 1609.

Along the way, you will pass the Royal Navy Cemetery, which dates back to 1812. Return to the Victorian era as you stop at the University of Tampa campus, once the former Tampa Bay Hotel built in 1891 as a palatial resort. This elegant structure stands on 150 acres of lush tropical grounds overlooking the Hillsborough River. The Hotel was built and furnished by railroad tycoon Henry Bradley Plant, recapturing an aura for an opulent Victorian winter resort. This magnificent structure, with its eye catching silver minarets, was modeled after the Alhambra Palace in Granada Spain and is on the National Register of Historic Places.

In 1886, Vicente Martinez Ybor bought forty acres of land from local Tampa citizens and began building Ybor City. Thus began this community of factories and small worker’s homes. At the Ybor City State Museum complex, you will pass by an authentically renovated cigar worker’s shotgun house dating from the turn of the century that was the home of early cigar factory workers.

A stop will be made in Ybor City and you will learn about the unique society that created the cigar industry, the primary manufacturing industry responsible for the early development of Tampa. Take a coastal drive with views of rocky mountains, gulfs and sea cliffs on the way to the town of Rethymnon. Southeast from the town and lying on a rocky plateau with views of the sea below, is the Arkadi Monastery which became famous due to the holocaust suffered in 1866. Built during the last Venetian period, it consists of a large set of fortress-like buildings where people could find refuge in times of trouble. After a visit to this historic place and learning about one the most tragic chapters in Cretan history, you arrive at the friendly old town of Rethymnon which still maintains its old aristocratic appearance. During your walk, admire arched doorways, stone staircases, Byzantine and Hellenic-Roman remains and the small Venetian harbor. You’ll have some free time to wander around on your own before continuing to a local restaurant to enjoy a Cretan lunch.

After a short transfer, you’ll go by boat towards Punta Loma navigating near the coastline passing Kaiser beach with the run aground ship 'Kaiser'; Punta Este with its majestic cliffs; Playa Parana and the shipwrecked fishing vessel 'Folia’s' rising from the water foam. The navigation will only last approximately half an hour and upon arrival in Punta Loma, if nature allows, you’ll be welcomed by sea lions and cormorants watching the surrounding activities from the top of the cliffs. Sea lions resting on the rocks will be attracted by the divers and will join them to play and swim with curiosity.

Step aboard your air-conditioned coach for a scenic drive through the countryside to Gun Hill Signal Station. Built in 1818, the signal station was restored and landscaped by the Barbados National Trust and now houses a collection of military memorabilia. Continue on to Orchid World, which sits on 6 acres of land in the parish of St. George. A path winds its way between beautiful coral, rock gardens, shady gullies and ponds. Your memorable trolley takes you past the Queen Emma pontoon bridge and the former floating market, where locals now sell fish, vegetables and other local products. Follow your guide through the historical part of the city. See the Old Market Place where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake in 1431 and the modern Joan of Arc Church completed in 1979. Other sites you’ll find during your walking tour are the Gros Horloge Street with its belfry and a sculpted archway on which rests a Renaissance lodge decorated with clock faces that still indicate the time of the day, the phases of the moon and the days of the week. Discover the Law Courts, the seat of Normandy’s Parliament and the cathedral, made famous by Claude Monet’s paintings of its façade.

You’ll travel to the Adelaide River, one of eight rivers in the Top End which have large flood plains. These flood plains create a great expanse of coastal wetlands that are home to a variety of unique animals and plant life. The Northern Territory is also well known as crocodile country. You’ll stop at the Window on the Wetlands Visitors Centre where you’ll have the opportunity to learn more about life in this tropical region.

At the Adelaide River, you’ll board a boat for your cruise which brings you almost face-to-face with the crocodiles. Keep watch for the tell-tale ripples of an approaching reptile, camera ready in anticipation of capturing that crocodile as it leaps out of the water.
