Stop at the open-air Patagonian Institute depicting pioneer life with a collection of antique trains, machinery and other items from the Colonial period. You’ll also visit Pioneer Cemetery, lined by tall cypresses and grand mausoleums and the burial place of the last now extinct Ona Indians.


Note: Tour involves approximately 1/2 mile of walking over even and paved terrain and about 50 steps to manage. At the museum, you must climb a flight of stairs to reach some of the displays, and most explanations are written in Spanish only. Weather in Punta Arenas is unpredictable. Please dress in layers and bring a windbreaker or waterproof jacket.
