Experience a beloved South African tradition in style during this visit to the Mount Nelson Hotel.

Depart the pier for the drive to the famous Mount Nelson Hotel. Now past her centenary year, the Mount Nelson remains a beloved landmark of the Mother City. The hotel is set amidst nine acres of splendid, park-like gardens on an historic site at the foot of Table Mountain; the very heart of Old Cape Town.

Opened on March 6, 1899, the Mount Nelson Hotel was the brainchild of shipping magnate Sir Donald Currie. The hotel was designed to emulate the finest in London, which was then the leading capital of refined hostelry. The reviews that followed the grand opening of the Mount Nelson claimed that the hotel surpassed all expectations, and exceeded comparisons with its British rivals.

Afternoon tea will be taken in the hotel's salon or conservatory, where you will be treated to a wonderful array of delicate sandwiches and savories, and tempting cakes, pastries and scones. A variety of teas and coffees will also be served.

Following this relaxing experience, you will re-board your coach for the return drive to the pier. En route, you will pass through Kloofnek and Camps Bay, and skirt the Atlantic coastline through the residential areas of Clifton, Bantry Bay, Seapoint and Green Point.
