The walk continues along the harbor’s shoreline, showcasing Victorian homes, ornate churches, and Sheldon Jackson College, home to the Sheldon Jackson Museum. Established in 1888, the museum preserves Alaska’s natural and cultural history with a vast collection of Native art and artifacts. Your final stop is St. Michael’s Russian Orthodox Cathedral, a reconstructed church built on the site of the original 1840 structure. Despite the 1966 fire, over 95% of the original religious icons were saved and now decorate the rebuilt cathedral. The tour ends with a self-guided visit in the cathedral and free time to explore the galleries and shops downtown.
