OVERVIEW

Explore New France, an open-air museum that re-creates the daily life of the French colonists that settled what became Quebec City in the mid-17th century. On the panoramic drive to the site in Saint-Félix-d’Otis, you will pass through a rural landscape much like the one where the colonists lived. While meandering about New France, you will see a collection of mostly wooden buildings that have been constructed based on archaeological evidence, which will give you an authentic feel for that time period. You may walk through the fortified Upper Town, the waterfront Lower Town and a Huron village that shows how the First Nations people lived and traded with the settlers. Costumed characters will answer questions you may have regarding early life in New France. To enhance the experience, you will snack on artisanal root vegetables and bannock, a corn flour bread that the Hurons ate.
