OVERVIEW
Hike through a lush rainforest to the summit of Mount Alma and then relax on a beautiful beach nearby. The mountain rises more than 700 above Beef Island on the eastern tip of Tortola. As you ascend the forested slopes, you will catch glimpses of the stunning coastline and blue-hued Trellis Bay through the trees. Mount Alma is Tortola’s highest peak and rewards hikers with spectacular views, especially from the exposed peak that offers the most sweeping panoramas. The trail is scenic but in a different way as it will offer a close-up look at the rainforest vegetation and perhaps birds. Long Bay Beach will likely be just as tranquil as it is typically uncrowded. It is the ideal setting to bask in the sun, beach-comb and swim in the crystal-clear waters. If you get hungry, you can snack on fried cornbread Johnny cakes, cheese and fruit punch.

OVERVIEW
Spend hours relaxing however you please on one of the most gorgeous, uncrowded beaches on the neighboring island of Virgin Gorda. After a wonderfully scenic ferry ride across Sir Francis Drake Channel, you will arrive at Spring Bay National Park, which is rimmed by an idyllic stretch of sand strewn with huge boulders. Although the setting is practically identical to the more famous beach at The Baths, won’t be nearly as many people. Volcanic activity eons ago formed the boulders along the park’s white-sand beach and over time natural erosion smoothed and reshaped them. You might sit in a shallow pool between the boulders, climb around the huge rock formations and stroll along the sheltered shore. The sea is typically calm and crystal-clear, making it ideal for swimming and snorkeling. Regardless of how you spend the time, you can’t help but leave thoroughly relaxed and refreshed.
